Third Career
10 April 2026
I’m onto my third career, and I haven’t even entered the workforce. In high school, I ran a 3D design and manufacturing studio out of my parents' house. Upon entering university, I began working in an implantable bioelectronics lab. Now, I’m starting an internship as a design engineer at Bstroy, a luxury clothing brand and design studio based in Brooklyn.
My parents think it’s ADHD; my younger cousin thinks I have it all figured out. In reality, I am experimenting. I am not naively bouncing between interests; I approach each role with 100% effort because I believe any one of them could be the career where I find real satisfaction and impact people and culture in a meaningful way.
My deadline is graduation. Until then, I have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity: access to university resources, the luxury of time, and the freedom to connect with anyone, inside or outside of academia. I’ve committed to spending 50% of my time on academics and 50% building toward my dream career—learning as much as I can both on and off campus. I am not getting as much sleep as other people, but I'm betting that the tradeoff will be worth it sooner rather than later.
